Gatare – Rwanda

Gatare is one of the oldest washing stations in Rwanda, having been established back in 2003. It quickly became known as one of the first stations to produce high-quality coffee for export. Located in the Nyamasheke district in the Western Province, Gatare is surrounded by lush, rolling hills blanketed with coffee trees. Over the years, the station has taken part in the Cup of Excellence (CoE) several times, consistently earning top rankings.

This is Stella’s first foray into Rwandan coffee – we’ve loved seeing the quality and their profiles develop at breakneck speed. In this case, we’re getting plenty of apple, nectarine and caramel Many coffee roaster friends-of-Stella who’ve travelled to Rwanda, often cite it as their favourite place to travel; all down to the delightful people.
