This 100% Caturra lot was grown by Marta Arcila on her farm, Finca La Leone, in Armenia, Quindio. Marta is a third-generation coffee farmer, who inherited her two farms when her father passed away some 20 years ago.
For the majority of her time producing coffee at La Leone, her focus was on high yields, however in 2019 she decided quality was going to be the primary focus for the farm. Due to the relatively high temperatures in Quindio, fermentation needs to be carefully controlled via Grainpro bags stored in water tanks - fermention goes for approx 48hrs, drying on raised beds for around 18 days bring the coffee to 11% moisture - if you’ve read this far, I’m impressed.
